1. Useful Keyboard Shortcuts

Using the mouse, you can drag-n-dock windows to either side of the screen, or drag it to the top to maximize it. These keyboard shortcuts are even faster:

   Win+Left Arrow and Win+Right Arrow -> Dock the window to the left and right side of the screen
   Win+Up Arrow and Win+Down Arrow -> Maximize and restore/minimize
   Win+M -> minimizes everything
   Alt+Up, Alt+Left Arrow, Alt+Right Arrow ->
   Navigate to parent folder, or browse Back and Forward through folders in Explorer
   Win+Home -> Minimizes/restores all open windows except the active window
   Alt+Win+# -> Accesses the Jump List of program number ‘#’ on the taskbar.



2. Rearrange System Tray Icons

You can rearrange icons on the taskbar as you wish and start new (or switch to running) instances of the first ten taskbar programs using Win+1, Win+2, and so on. The cool thing is you can also rearrange system tray icons. Reorder them on the tray or move them outside or back in the tray. Take control of what you want to always keep an eye on, and from which apps you’ll require notifications.

3. Add Any Folder to Favorites

You can add any library or folder to the Favorites section in Windows Explorer. To add a folder, navigate to it in Explorer, right-click Favorites in the left navigation pane, and select Add current location to Favorites. Now you get quick access to your favorite folders in all File->Save As dialogs!

4. Create Keyboard Shortcuts for Programs

You can create keyboard shortcuts for any program in Windows 7. Right-click the program icon and select Properties. Select the Shortcut tab, click in Shortcut key, to set the keyboard shortcut for that program.

5. Open Command Prompt in Any Folder

Miss the "Open Command Window Here" Windows XP power toy? Press "Shift" when right-clicking on a folder to get that option in the context menu. This also works on the desktop. No power toy required!

6. View Expanded ‘Send To’ Menu

Press Shift when right-clicking on a folder to get an expanded Send To menu.

7.  Customize the Power Button

Change the default Shutdown power button to Hibernate. Right-click on Start, select Properties, and choose the Power button action that you use the most (Stand by, Hibernate Shut down, Restart whatever you want).

8. Search Internet from the Start Menu

Enable Internet search from the Start Menu using your default browser. Run GPEDIT.MSC from the Start Menu search box to start the Group Policy Editor. In the left pane, go to User Configuration->Administrative Templates->Start Menu and Taskbar. In the right pane, right-click to Edit and Enable Add Search Internet link to Start Menu.

9. Add Videos to Start Menu

Windows 7 does not have a link to your videos on the Start Menu by default. To add a link to your videos on the Start Menu, right-click Start, select Properties, click on Customize. In the Videos section at the bottom, choose Display as a link.

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Finally, right-click the black space and select "New" and choose Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

then click OK

How to Restrict a Website using Firefox

Firefox requires an add-on to restrict sites. You can find many good ones at Mozilla.org. The best one is BlockSite.

Here is How:
1. In Firefox, click Tools
2. Click Add-ons
3. Click Get Add-ons
4. Choose Browse All Add-ons.
5. Type blocksite in the search bar.After installing the add-on you will be able to block sites with just a few clicks.


How to block a Website using Google Chrome

1. Open your Chrome Web Browser
2. Click the wrench symbol in he upper right corner.
3. Choose Tools
4. Click Under the Hood tab.
5. Choose Change Proxy Settings.
6. Click Security, click Restricted Sites

In Windows XP

1. Click Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt.
2. Click Command Prompt This will open a DOS command window.
3. Type: notepad C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts
4. Locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost
5. To block the website google.com for example, just add this text under 127.0.0.1 localhost:

127.0.0.1 google.com
127.0.0.1 www.google.com

You can add as many sites any site, However you will need to prefix it with "127.0.0.1".

6. Save the file
Google will now be blocked in all web browser. This is an advanced but easy method on how to block a website.

How to Send Data on a Right Click to Your Desired Folder?

Whenever you attach a removable disk and want to send some items in it, you have option either you select the required files and do a CTRL –C, open the removable disk and do a CTRL-V or you select the required files right click on it and there you find “Send To” option. In “Send To” you find the name of removable disk and you simply send the items into it. Well, What if i get the name of my own desired folder there which I use frequently for keeping my stuff.


Now in this post I will be telling you how you can create your own folder with in any name in “Send To” option so that whenever you will copy any files or folders, you will simply send them to your folder instead of using CTRL-C and CTRL-V.



1)     Firstly you’ll have to access hidden files. So change your view settings to make all hidden files visible.

Tools -> folder options -> view (tab) and select the show hidden files and folders.


2)     In Windows 7 also you will have to unmark “hide system protected files and folder”. After that you can see all the hidden system protection file, now go to

C:\Users\UserName\SendTo folder.


3)     Open up my computer and locate your most used folders let us take “Fun”. Create a shortcut of the most used folders (Fun) in

C:\Users\UserName\SendTo folder.


4)     You can do this in a number of ways.

Right click -> send to desktop (create shortcut) and move the shortcut from the desktop to the C:\Users\UserName\SendTo folder.

Copy the most used folder and go to C:\Users\UserName\SendTo folder and right click -> paste shortcut.

5)     Now your customized “Send To” option is ready to go.
